Laburnum Farm Liveries
We are a small family run yard with many years experience, we care for your horses as if they are our own with their needs from occasional hackers to competition horses.
Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, on the edge of Rendlesham forest and the river Deben. With a calm relaxed approach on the yard which helps keep the horses calm and chilled.
Escorted hacks available around Rendlesham forest, on site clinics with local dressage and showjump trainers
Meet the team
Proprietor
Alistair Read, this has been known as home since 1966 when his mother Amy ran it as a piggery along with having a few driving ponies, since then has also housed ducks and farm machinery. The land was drilled and put down to grass in 2005 for use as a Private Yard, now run by Danielle as a Livery yard. Alistair owns 4 horses on site 2 Arab broodmares Alice and Dee dee both been used for breeding last 4 years to which we have 4 homebred part arabs from 3yr old now being backed called Tom welsh D x 2yr old Lexi now starting the ground work another Welsh D X a lovely Anglo Arab filly called Missy and just born this year Connie X called flynn

Danni, I have been here now for 8 years, have been involved with horses/ponies since I could walk. My career with a horse started when I was just 12 working in the Arab and M&M showing circuits as a groom, went on to own my first project pony Sonny 3yr old NFxTB at 13yrs old, finished school went on to Poplar Park got the competition bug, continued from there on number of hunt, training and competition yards learning lots. I have mainly competed unaffliated levels, uk chasers qualifying both show jumping and dressage at national championships, I have been involved with Deben Riding club, Qualifying both winter BRC Show jumping championship finishing 4 faults over 2 rounds, and also summer BRC championship for riding test. I have a selection of homebred horses that are now out competing local and county shows part bred Arab Laburnum Dream who seems to have found a love for show jumping, A pure home bred Suffolk Punch who is currently just inhand showing but will be used for everything i hope eventually including breeding to keep there rare breed going, I also have Roo who is 21 this year help me gain many qualifications within riding club competitions, and more part bred Arabs still to come up through the ranks.
Assistant Managers
Brendan, is 13 years old son of Danni, likes to be helpful if he can always get him to give the guided tours, and can make a good cup of tea, sadly likes to hibernate indoors although he likes the horses and socialising with everyone on yard he's no longer keen enough to ride but is trying a bit of carriage driving. Hoping to train as a farrier.

Roxanne, our youngest daughter she is cheeky and mischievous will stand and help me teach in arena taking it all in learning from everyones mistakes i hope, she helps with the poo picking and mucking out and loves it if there are more friends visiting to play with all though she is a little wild child.
Grooms
Becky, One of 2 sisters that help out on yard whilst I'm away competing and helping with some daily chores, Has had her own horses in past but personal circumstances she is currently having a break so helps to keep her hand in.

Megan, second sister who owns a Welsh B pony which we have successfully broken to drive and is now out couple times a month at carriage driving competitions and doing well coming 2nd first time out
